You Don't Need a Simpler Life to Feel Calm

For much of my life, I thought the goal was simplicity.

I imagined a future version of myself living a calmer life.

A life with fewer responsibilities.
A life with less pressure.
A life with less uncertainty.

A life where peace would finally have room to arrive.

But recently, I've been questioning that belief.

Because when I look honestly at my life, I realize something.

The things I care about most were never simple.

Motherhood isn't simple.

Building meaningful work isn't simple.

Relationships aren't simple.

Growth isn't simple.

Life itself isn't simple.

And perhaps it was never meant to be.

What I've come to understand is that my suffering was not created by complexity itself.

It was created by losing myself within it.

By becoming so focused on carrying everything that I stopped noticing the person doing the carrying.

I stopped checking in with myself.

I stopped listening.

I stopped allowing space to simply be.

For a long time, I believed calm would arrive when life changed. Now I believe calm arrives when we remain connected to ourselves while life unfolds.

Not after the hard season.

Not after the stress disappears.

Not after everything is resolved.

Now.

This shift has changed the way I think about beauty, home, emotional wellbeing, and presence.

Not as ways to escape life.

But as anchors within it.

Perhaps we don't need less life.

Perhaps we simply need a stronger connection to ourselves while living it.

And perhaps that is where peace has been waiting all along.

If this refelction resonated with you, know that you are not alone.

What I create through GIANA was born from my own journey of navigating overwhelm, responsibility, and the feeling of being disconnected from myself while trying to hold everything together. The artwork, reflections, and the quiet tools in the shop were created as gentle reminders to pause, reconnect, and return to what matters most. Not because there is anything wrong with you, but because sometimes we simply need support remembering who we are.
